Producing A Filter To Reduce Contamination
We were contacted by an established confectionery goods manufacturer contacted to help with updating their processing machinery. The company had recently won a new contract to produce and package sweets on behalf of a large confectionery company.
To fulfill the conditions of the new business, the company needed to update its processes to ensure the sweet products are contamination-free and safe to consume
Silicone Solutions For TRhe Kitchen Industry
One of the US’s leading restaurant and pub chains contacted us in an effort to source a silicone replacement for cotton cloths used in their pubs and restaurant chains. The decision to replace the cotton cloths was really one of necessity due to new Food Quality Standards. The cotton cloths are now classed as “unhygienic” and some of the kitchen staff were getting burned due to the poor heat resistance they offer. Silicone was seen as an ideal replacement as not only is it an FDA (Food & Drug Association) approved material but it has excellent temperature resistance, ranging from -60°C to 230°C, and also can be wiped clean due to silicone’s non-stick properties.
The new silicone cloth replacements are now in service and are being rolled out to all their pub and restaurant chains in the US.
A Seal For All Weathers And Ride Conditions
Recently we have helped develop a battery seal for an e-Bike application project. The material needed to be able to combat an array of weathering elements and not be fazed by UV resistance, rain, snow and sleet.
The project was time sensitive due to a real emphasis on production costs. Our commercial team were able to provide swift information whilst production and marketing provided two sets of different sample grades and properties to help the project move forward.
The project is expected to grow year on year with global trends to less environmental impact technology as a means of inner-city transit.
A Silicone That Can Fight Bacteria Growth
We were contacted by a company that provides solutions for the construction industry by creative building systems. The company had a new project which involved the installation of operating rooms in hospitals. They needed a material with enhanced safety features to combat the propagation of bacterial growth in its most critical areas.
They were interested in our antimicrobial silicone grade which contains silver ions and gives great bactericidal protection. Following this, we quoted two types of gaskets for them in a requested special yellow colour. To get the colour just right we sent the details to our laboratory who have the capability to mix the silicone to achieve any RAL/Pantone colour.
The project was a success and is now integrated into operating rooms, increasing the hygiene of the hospital.
